A Poem from the Loner's Point of View
Against the wall I lean
Looking around and wondering
If they'll ever bother to even glance at me
With a heavy heart I'm alone

How will I tell them
That I stay quiet as I can't speak
And I don't know whether they would accept me
If they knew the truth

However, I would love to join in their little game
I shall wait for them to understand me
Until then I shall lean against my friend,
This wall

The Loner and The Children
The Loner is one that keeps to himself and thus feels shy to go ahead and mingle with the others freely. He seems desperate for a friend as he comes down to the playground everyday despite the shunning.
‘He leans against the playground wall,
Smacks his hands against the bricks’
This may be so because he may be having personal problems. He may need someone to make him feel better and help him forget his sorrows. Since no one seems to notice him, he resorts to the wall. Why does he smack it then? He may be doing so to let go of his sorrow. Smacking the wall repeatedly may be making him feel better. Perhaps he may be trying to attract attention from the children. Then, he may get a chance to play and be happy like the other children. If only he had been a bit more sociable, his wish would have come true.

The children are lost in their own world called the playground. They are so deep inside it that they are oblivious to the fact that there is a little boy standing there against the wall every day, longing to be one of them. The children are happy as they are able to solve their problems almost instantly. However, they do not realize that the loner has problems fitting in and that he doesn’t know how to solve them.
‘Each in our familiar clique
We pass him by and never speak’
They refuse to accept him into their cliques due to the fact that they think that since he doesn’t utter a word, he would be of no fun. They don’t even bother to look at him. This shows that the children have no sympathy for the boy and that they’re coldhearted. They really should give him a chance and show him that the world is much more than just a wall.

Do you sympathize with The Joker? What have you learnt from this lesson?
No, I do not sympathize with The Joker. He is evil and does not need to be sympathized. He disregards lives and kills. He robbed a bank. He’s really selfish because he wanted all the money. He killed all his accomplices just to get away with the whole sum. He harbored evil intentions. His actions harmed others. No matter what he has been through, what is wrong is wrong. He wasn’t sentimental to others’ feelings. Thus, he doesn’t deserve to be sympathized.

From this lesson, I have learnt that to get good things, people don’t always take the right path. Even though the outcome may be good in such cases, the way you have accomplished it may not be so satisfactory. In this case, Batman had threatened Fox to find The Joker. He forced him to do it for him. And forcing is not really that nice! From this, we also realize that heroes do not necessarily have to be 100% perfect or good. No one’s perfect anyway.
The Joker didn’t have a good reason to victimize others. No matter how bad his situation might be or how depressed he may be, this isn’t the right way to express it. He should learn to stay calm and learn self – control, visit a counselor, or try anything but violence!
